The Sentinelese tribe

The North Sentinel Island is home to the Sentinels, a small tribe who has inhabited the island for thousands of years. The island is completely untouched by modern civilization and they will kill any outsiders who try to get too close to their land. No one has ever gone or left this island without fleeing immediately or being slaughtered by the Sentinelese upon arrival. These islands were formally a part of the Republic of India but India has declared a few of these islands including the North Sentinel Island closed to the outsiders in order to preserve the distinct culture of these lands.

The Sentinelese maintains an essentially hunter-gathering society, obtaining their subsistence through hunting, fishing, and collecting wild plants and there is no evidence of any agricultural practices.

As for Sentinelese tribe tools used in daily life as arrows in the coral-fringed reefs for crabs and fish, including striped catfish-eel and the toothed pony fish. Besides hunting for animals, Sentinelese tribe also gather fruits, wild roots, tubers and honey.

After the Indian Ocean tsunami of 2004, there was a fear that the Sentinelese may have been wiped out, however they appear to have survived the event relatively unscathed. The last recorded contact with the Sentinelese was in 2006, when the Sentinelese people archers killed two fishermen who were fishing illegally within range of the island. The archers later drove off, with a hail of arrows, the helicopter that was sent to retrieve the bodies.  The government now says it will make no further attempt to contact them.
